The short-term solution for the energy transition towards decarbonisation is also starting to take hold in Italy, driven by the cruise sector, which has long since chosen LNG to propel the generation of ships that is entering service. After some attempts at traditional solutions, such as coastal depots, the projects that are advancing are based on mobile storage and refuelling, which are also those chosen in foreign ports, such as Barcelona, where the issue has been addressed for some time. The use of mobile storage can also be an interesting solution for smaller ports, allowing the spread of LNG far beyond the cruise field.
